WATSON – Live Oak made quick and short work of Belaire on Friday, wrapping up the 2017-18 regular season with a 47-25 victory.
DENHAM SPRINGS -- Zachary pushed past Denham Springs High 56-40 in a late-season battle between District 4-5A foes on Tuesday just a few games before the playoffs.
SCOTLANDVILLE -- A late turnover wiped out a chance to tie the game or go ahead in the closing minute Tuesday as Live Oak dropped a 51-49 decision at Scotlandville.
WALKER -- Walker coach Korey Arnold gave those in attendance at Tuesday's game with Belaire a look into the program's future.
WATSON -- Didn’t matter much how it looked or how Live Oak reached the finish line. The Lady Eagles just needed a win.
Two weeks remain in the 2017-18 regular season and for the Walker girls, that includes handful of key games remaining before they embark on promising postseason journey.
WALKER – As is often the case, Walker took care of business quickly and decisively Thursday in a non-district game against St. Scholastica.
DENHAM SPRINGS -- A special night was also a nerve-wracking night for three quarters Thursday when Denham Springs High hosted Assumption on Senior Night in a non-district game.
BATON ROUGE -- Walker grabbed control early against Scotlandville and was in control enough to make a 48-32 victory rather mundane on Tuesday.
WATSON -- The advice Maia Robinson received before Tuesday’s game against Live Oak was simple — turn and shoot.
Walker and Scotlandville have played a lot of basketball coming into this week and still have plenty left to look forward to as the 2017-18 season reaches the stretch run.
DENHAM SPRINGS -- Denham Springs High won convincingly against Belaire on Friday, 39-10 after jumping out to an 18-5 lead after the first quarter and playing strong defense in the second half.
WALKER -- Live Oak and Walker came into their District 4-5A opener with similar ideas on defense: Take away the other team’s top scoring threat.
Power points create a little less emphasis on district games and the impact they have on the postseason. Don’t mistake that for those games not meaning a lot to the players involved, though.
Usually by now, a routine has set in for high school basketball teams. A district season has begun with round-robin play against familiar opponents.
