Patrick Salmon of Live Oak High finished in 10th place in the 100 freestyle and tied for 17th in the 50 free at last week's Capital City Swim League meet at Crawfish Aquatics.

BATON ROUGE – A second place finish in the boys 200 freestyle relay, and two swimmers taking top-eight finishes in the girls 50 freestyle, highlighted Saturday’s Capital City Swim League meet for Denham Springs High.

The 200 free relay recorded a 1:45.15 to take second to Catholic High (1:32.41).

Laney Wilkes took fifth in the girls 50 free at 29.25, while Alex Basco was eighth at 29.60.

In the boys division, Addison Sloper took eighth in the 100 free (59.17) and David Norton was 11th (1:00.01).

Peyton Brice was 13th in the 200 free (2:35.19) and Kyle Kieronski was 15th in the 100 breaststroke (1:17.04).

The Jackets’ medley relay also was eighth (2:05.74).

Presley Pourciau of Denham Springs High was 13th in the 200 freestyle at last week's Capital City Swim League meet at Crawfish Aquatics.

In the girls division, Wilkes led four members of the girls team to finish in the top 16 in the 200 free.

Wilkes was ninth (2:29.92); Amber Hodges, 10th (2:41.78); Presley Pourciau, 13th (3:01.27); and Eva Denino, 14th (3:21.56).

In relay events, the Lady Jackets were sixth in the 200 free relay (2:07.55), ninth in the medley relay (:30.57) and 400 free relay (5:14.50).

Patrick Salmon of Live Oak took 10th in the 100 free (59.83) and tied for 17th in the 50 free (26.08).

Catholic High won the boys division with 577 points, while Dutchtown was second with 298. Denham Springs was ninth with 90 and Live Oak finished 10th with 10.

St. Joseph’s Academy won the girls division with 577 points and Parkview Baptist was second with 298. Denham Springs was sixth with 130.

The next competition for Denham Springs, Live Oak, Walker and Holden will be Oct. 13, the final regular season league meet.

The City Championships are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 27-28.
